Malt is a new non-alcoholic trend in Slovenia. MALT is a refreshing carbonated malt beverage which looks like beer but does not contain alcohol because it has not been fermented. Barley malt extract and caramel give it its amber colour. Malt and beer are made from the same barley malt. The barley is dried, malted and dried in a malthouse. Because of the biochemical reactions during malting, the malt is rich in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. The drying process results in the release of melanoids, which give it its colour and aroma. Natural malt therefore provides a characteristic flavour and aroma, which distinguish malt from other non-alcoholic beverages. Union’s Malt has been additionally enhanced with a fruity pineapple flavour.
